Wait just a Dagon minute: A Lovecraft adaptation that doesn't suck?!

I know, I know - that's like saying "A Texas Chain Saw movie without a dinner table scene" or "A Veronica Cartwright movie where she doesn't have to gag on her own screams". But lo and behold, the upcoming Lovecraft-inspired movie Cthulhu actually doesn't suck.

And guess what? It's gay!

Yes, this abomination of nature is an honest-to-Cthulhu gay horror movie with a gay protagonist, a gay love story and Tori Spelling (for good measure). And even better, while the lead character's sexuality is important (even essential) to the story, it's not a big deal. It's not a coming out story or an AIDS allegory or anything - it's a straight-up (no pun intended) atmospheric horror flick based on the mythologies of dear old H.P. that just happens to have a gay lead.

Pretty cool, huh?

I'll hopefully have the time to write up a full review of the film closer to its limited release in a few weeks, but for now check out the trailer, which I think is pretty damn awesome.
