Valerie
Harper Sure, I know – Rhoda, Valerie’s Family, blah blah blah. But in this thriller she is just unacceptably bad. Her opening scenes play out as though she didn’t get the script and is making up her dialogue as she goes along, and she’s just so damned stressed-out and unpleasant through the entire film that it’s almost impossible to stand watching her for more than a few minutes at a time. Which is a shame – considering that there’s a freakish killer chasing her on the highway (he even has a larynx voicebox-thingie, for no apparent reason) we should be reasonably worried for this woman. Eh-eh. As she stumbles through abandoned gas stations and tries to hide from the weirdo, I actually just kept wishing he’d just catch up with her and put us out of our misery. |
