CampBlood Homo Horror Features: So Readable They Hurt

Midnight Offerings   1981
Melissa Sue Anderson, Mary Beth McDonough, Patrick Cassidy, Marion Ross
The battle of the goody-goody has-beens explodes in trashy fury as Mary Ingalls and Erin Walton go at each other’s throats in this good witch/bad witch high school thriller. McDonough plays the new girl, whose powers make her an instant target for Anderson, who refreshingly plays an absolute bitch bent on running the school and winning her man (Cassidy, here harboring a dark secret – he drinks!) back from the new chick. Throw in an older generation of witches who aren’t amused by the frilly-bloused catfighting going on at the school, a white-hot woodshop telekenisis fight, and Vanna White, and you’ve got all the makings of a super-trashy Carrie knockoff that’s got to be seen. Sure it’s like a hundred other teen witchcraft movies (The Craft, Jennifer, Teen Witch) – but they don’t have Mary Ingalls fucking up her mother with black magic!
