CampBlood Homo Horror Features: So Readable They Hurt

Hotline   1982
Lynda Carter, Steve Forrest, Frank Stallone
Wonderwoman plays a roadhouse bartender (yeah, RIGHT!) and frustrated artist (ahem!) in this stupider-than-usual MOTW. After successfully defusing a bar argument, Lynda (her name is Brianne, which is pronounced “Brian” in the movie – odd) is offered a job at a crisis hotline by an old and gross man with whom she inexplicably falls in love. Of course, she is immediately stalked by a breathless, raspy-voiced killer who starts offing people and giving her clues about it. Hearing Carter repeat the stupid riddles to herself over and over and listening to the calls repeatedly on a 30-pound tape recorder gets incredibly old, as does seeing her repeatedly ogled by her boss, an over-the-hill western star, and her creepy entrepreneur boyfriend. Extra points for giving the killer a wacko makeup job, otherwise really tedious.
